According to the FOEN (Federal Office for the Environment), Switzerland has one of the highest per capita waste volumes of all western industrialized nations, at 716 kg*. Only about 50% of this is recycled. Too often, potentially valuable materials still end up in the trash and are carelessly burned. This is not least due to the fact that recycling in Switzerland is complicated. Citizens have to collect individual recyclables separately and hand them in at decentralized collection points. In addition, there are hardly any collection services for exotic materials such as plastic or beverage cartons.

Since 2016, we have been helping the Swiss population to optimize their individual waste volumes. Started as a student project in St. Gallen, we now already reach a third of the population with our innovative service. Our evaluations show that the simplicity of the system means that significantly more recyclables are brought in than with conventional recycling.

We take over potential recyclables before they become waste. Especially for plastics or beverage cartons, there are hardly any offers in Switzerland. WeRecycle ensures that countless tons of unnecessary CO2 emissions are prevented and valuable resources are conserved.
We want to continue our success story with you and further sensitize the population to this important topic through growth. Under the motto: "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" we want to help avoid unnecessary waste, conserve resources and give apparent waste another life cycle. In addition to numerical and geographical growth, we plan to build a modern trading platform for sustainable and recycled products. Many innovative companies lack a suitable market access to offer their excellent products. We also want to change that through our Shopportal.

As a member of the VSPR (Swiss Plastics Recyclers Association), we are also committed to a uniform and national collection and sorting system for mixed plastics. Already today we prove that recycling of such material streams is possible. We do not want to wait for political guidelines, we act. This financing round is intended to help us achieve our ambitious goals.
