About the Company

The Swiss pet insurance market is heavily underinsured, and the existing offering is often inadequate. As pet parents ourselves, we were not convinced by the solutions available.
That is exactly why we founded Calingo. Together with Swiss veterinarians, we developed a modern insurance solution that truly meets the needs of pet parents.

More than three years ago, we entered the Swiss market with our pet insurance. By the end of 2025, we had already built a portfolio of CHF 8.5 million in recurring premiums.

But Calingo goes beyond insurance. With our health platform, we want to support pet parents in actively strengthening the health of their beloved companions. We identify risks early and actively promote pet health to deliver real added value.

Attractive Swiss pet market

The number of dogs and cats is increasing significantly. At the same time, the insurance penetration rate for pet insurance in Switzerland is below 10%, while in countries such as the UK or Scandinavia, up to 90% of dogs are insured.

With around 2.5 million dogs and cats in 42% of Swiss households and steadily increasing demand, the market offers enormous growth potential. This trend is driven in particular by Millennials, who are increasingly becoming pet parents, as well as by an ageing population, for whom pets are becoming more important.

Due to high operational complexity and significant barriers to entry, there are only a few pet insurance providers in Switzerland. Scalable business mode

Calingo has a scalable business model with two strong growth channels. In B2B2C distribution, we work with established partners such as Allianz Suisse, SWICA, Coop, Qualipet, Brack.ch and over 200 veterinary practices. At the same time, we acquire customers directly through B2C channels, with efficient acquisition costs.

As an insurance provider, Calingo is also based on recurring revenue. On average, a pet is insured with us for five years. Through recurring premium income, Calingo has a predictable revenue model with long-term earnings potential.

Break-even and exit plans

With the current financing round, we aim to further accelerate growth and reach break-even at the beginning of 2027. For investors, this represents an attractive risk-reward profile.

We are already seeing strong interest in Calingo from insurance companies across the DACH region due to our strong growth and positioning in the market. Reaching profitability will further increase this interest. The planned exit window is currently between 2027 and 2028.

What exactly does Calingo do?

Calingo offers digital pet insurance for dogs and cats. We develop the product, acquire customers, support them and process submitted vet bills — all on our own infrastructure. The insurance risk itself is carried by a licensed insurance partner, in our case Allianz Suisse.

This allows us to fully focus on delivering a simple, digital and customer-centric insurance experience.

How does Calingo make money?

Calingo receives compensation from its insurance partner for the services we provide. These include, for example, product development, distribution, customer service, technology and the processing of submitted vet bills.

In addition, we are building further recurring revenue streams with the Calingo health platform:

  • Non-customers will be able to use the platform through a paid subscription model in the future.

  • Another revenue channel is created through product recommendations and direct sales on the platform. Suitable prevention and care products will be offered directly via the platform.

Why did you choose crowdinvesting as a financing option?

Calingo regularly receives investment enquiries from customers, partners and pet lovers who would like to become part of our journey, but whose investment amount does not fit into a traditional financing round.

With crowdinvesting, we are now creating the opportunity for many people to participate and become true co-owners of Calingo. This strengthens our community, creates natural multipliers for our growth and allows our network to participate directly in Calingo’s success.

To give as many people as possible the opportunity to participate, we have set the minimum investment at CHF 360 and the maximum investment at CHF 50,000 per person. This ensures that Calingo is supported by a broad base of new co-owners.

Why is now the right time to invest?

Calingo has significantly reduced the most important early-stage risks: product-market fit has been achieved and Calingo has established itself as a pet insurance provider. By the end of 2025, major B2B partnerships with Allianz, Coop and Generali were concluded, which will further accelerate growth in 2026.

At the same time, the number of pets in Switzerland is growing, as is the importance of dogs and cats within their families. However, the pet insurance market remains far from saturated and therefore offers significant growth potential.

For investors, this creates an attractive entry opportunity: after successful market validation, but before the next major value inflection point and the planned exit window between 2027 and 2028.

How did you determine the company valuation?

The valuation of CHF 20 million is based on a combination of current business performance, customer growth, strategic positioning, strong partnerships and benchmarks from the insurtech and pet insurance market.

A common valuation method in this sector is applying a multiple to the premium volume. Depending on market position, growth and strategic attractiveness, we see market multiples of around 2–4x. Calingo had a premium volume of CHF 8.3 million by the end of 2025; by the end of 2026, a premium volume of CHF 15 million is budgeted.

What do I get as an investor?

Investors participate economically in the company and benefit from a potential increase in value in the event of an exit. Details of the structure, such as the investment instrument and terms, are clearly defined in the investor document.

Do I receive voting rights?

No. The crowdinvesting is structured as an economic participation. Voting rights remain with the existing shareholders to ensure fast and efficient decision-making processes.

Do I receive dividends?

No, no dividend distributions are planned in the medium term. Our focus is clearly on growth and reinvesting in the further scaling of Calingo.

The primary return driver for investors is therefore a potential increase in value in the event of a later exit.

Is an exit planned?

Yes. An exit is part of our strategic planning. We are already seeing strong interest in Calingo from insurance companies across the DACH region.

Our goal is to scale Calingo significantly further over the coming years, reach break-even and thereby further increase its attractiveness for strategic buyers. An exit is currently targeted for the period between 2027 and 2028.
